Hey! This is a doc I made to elaborate on Pioneer feedback.

I always aim to give one point of constructive feedback, and often notice that I'll give multiple companies the same feedback. So, I made this doc of "commonly given feedback points".

Please read the numbered points that I mentioned in my feedback to you.

Point 1) I’m not an asshole, I swear.

Pioneer’s character limit on feedback makes it difficult to be both EMPATHETIC and CONSTRUCTIVE. Because of this, I choose to forego the nice words and encouragement in favor of giving the most helpful, constructive feedback I can.

This can often come off as me being a total dick.

I absolutely do not want to criticize you as a founder, or make you feel bad about your business. I give blunt, harsh criticism because:

  1. I’ve made lots of mistakes as a founder including:

    1. Misguided objectives/metrics
    2. Poorly timed fundraising
    3. Building a product in search of a solution
    4. Many more

I want to help you avoid these issues because they SUCKED to go through personally.

  2. The most productive times of my life have been when people didn’t bullshit me. Actionable critical feedback creates the following:

    1. Clear path forward (actionability)
    2. Desire to improve (because I just made you feel bad)

If I do not provide both of these, message me back and I’ll elaborate. I’m always available at [email protected] as well.

Point 2) Your one-liner is bad, and here’s how to fix it:

I’ve made this mistake before, and the below formula made everything soooo much easier.

“[product name] is a [form factor] for [customers] so [value prop]”

AirBnb is a website for travelers to book a stay in another person’s home.
